Slingplayer on iPhone

The sling player is one of the coolest media devices. You plug the box into your home DVR, TiVo, cable box, whatever, and you can watch your TV from any Internet connected device. There are a lot of phones currently compatible for streaming TV from your slingbox, but the iPhone is currently not one of them.

That is all about to change, or at least, most likely about to change. SlingMedia has released some video of their “Proof of concept” iPhone App (shown in the video after this article). As reported by engadget, “the software they showed us was pre-alpha proof-of-concept, and their whole situation is hamstrung by the fact that Apple hasn’t officially accepted them into the developer program yet. So what we’ve seen is basically an app developed out of bounds for jailbroken devices — thus it goes without saying that Sling won’t be releasing it until they can do so legitimately. But assuming all goes well, they do intend to get it out the door by sometime this fall or winter.” Read the rest of this entry »
